Our Core Values

Our aim is to be the most client-focused Financial Advisers possible and we do this by putting our clients at the heart of our business and treating them fairly. We will act with the utmost integrity and professionalism at all times, be open, honest and ethical in everything we do, and operate a transparent charging structure.

We believe that professional financial advice can add significant value to individuals and businesses alike, so we offer a comprehensive, ongoing review service designed to provide real value for our clients.

Our Investment Philosophy

  1. All clients of LR Financial Services Ltd (LRFS) should understand the reasons for investing and
how their portfolio is designed to meet their objectives.
  2. When it comes to investing, risk and reward are inextricably entwined.
  3. Inflation is bad news for both savers and investors.
  4. Diversification – using mainstream asset classes – can reduce the risk without destroying returns.
  5. The majority of long-term returns come from asset allocations.
  6. Re-balancing is used to ensure a consistent asset allocation to match your risk profile.
  7. Costs are certain and returns are not. (Understanding and seeking to reduce costs, where safe to do so, is a key part of our investment process).
  8. Tax and access are important.
  9. Investment success comes from the consistent application of a robust process. (We will discuss and agree with you the best way to achieve this).
  10. Success is often about the things you don’t do as much as the things you do. LRFS has some simple rules that we apply to all portfolios, unless you specifically request a different approach.

We only use fund managers regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority to help assist in selecting risk managed portfolios

Our service levels

We offer different levels of service, and the service level you choose will depend on how much interaction you have with your Adviser. Your Adviser can meet with you twice a year to explain how your investments are doing, or, if you prefer, you could have a telephone appointment instead. Alternatively, you can simply have a one-off meeting with an Adviser and then they will be available whenever you feel you need more advice.

We offer three ongoing service levels to cater for the majority of our clients’ needs. We believe that you should be able to choose the service you want, because it’s your money and you should be in control. Our levels of service are designed to allow you to choose how your money is managed and how much time you want to spend with your Adviser.

Our entry service level is Financial Advice. This may be suitable for those with cash deposits and who may not have used investments before but want some of their funds to work harder.  This service level comes with an annual review meeting.

Our middle level of service is Financial Analysis and is designed for those clients who have used investments before, have an understanding that investments can go down as well as up and can accept that risk. It comes with an annual review meeting and the option to have a second review meeting during the year.

Our highest service level is Bespoke. This is for clients who use investments regularly, have a good understanding of how markets work, and who have a diverse portfolio of investments or need a discretionary fund manager (DFM) but who require advice around tax planning and want to review their investments every six months.

Finally, we offer a transactional service – Financial Transactions. This has no ongoing service and is for those clients who do not need ongoing advice or do wish to sign up to an ongoing service.

Our process

Initial Meeting

  • Our Adviser will take the time to get to know you, your financial situation and your long-term objectives
  • We will explain our services, answer any questions and outline our charges so that you are clear about our fees.
  • If you decide to engage our services, we will then complete our client agreement and start gathering all the personal information we need to really understand your case.

Discovery

  • During the discovery stage we will collect all the information we need to carry out a wide-ranging analysis of your current financial situation.
  • This information will be used to identify any shortfalls and immediate priorities for action. It will also help us create your personal cashflow forecast, calculate net wealth and formulate our recommendations.
  • At this stage we will also assess the performance of your existing investment and pension portfolios, ensuring the money you have already set aside is working hard for you. We will also assess the risk profile of your current portfolios to ensure they are aligned with your personal preferences.

Research & Recommendations

  • During this stage we will create a cashflow forecast and balance sheet so that you have a clear picture of your current financial position. We will also provide specific recommendations to help you achieve the objectives you’ve identified.
  • We will create a recommended investment portfolio tailored to your objectives and tolerance for risk.
  • We will also complete an assessment of the tax-efficiency of your existing arrangements, with suggestions on how to improve them, using simple planning strategies and available allowances.

Present Recommendations

  • Once our research and recommendations have been finalised, we will meet with you to talk you through your financial plan and cashflow forecast. We will explain how our recommendations have been designed to make your financial objectives a reality.
  • This will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions. We will ensure you fully understand your plan before we begin implementation.
  • Only when you are 100% happy with our recommendations will we proceed to the next stage.

Implementation

  • Leave the rest to us. We make the implementation stage as easy as possible for you by submitting all applications and paperwork to the relevant providers on your behalf. We carefully track the progress of each application and keep you informed throughout.
  • We will check (and double check) that your instructions have been implemented accurately and that all the documentation received and sent is correct.
  • If necessary, we will happily collaborate with any professional Advisers such as your solicitor or accountant.

Ongoing review services

  • Ensuring that everything stays on track is every bit as important as the initial advice and recommendations we make.
  • We will schedule regular financial planning reviews with you to assess the progress made towards your objectives. If necessary, we’ll make adjustments to reflect any changes in your situation, needs or objectives.
  • The nature and frequency of these reviews will depend on your personal needs and the level of complexity of your individual situation.

Helpful things to bring to the meeting

For an Adviser to get a better understanding of your financial situation, bring a copy of your bank statement and savings accounts. This will show your income and expenditure and will help us to get an idea of your lifestyle.

We will also need two copies of valid ID. This is so we can verify your name and address. If you choose to go further with us and would like us to carry out any work for you, we will need your National Insurance number. We will accept the plastic card or your latest payslip.

If you hold any insurance policies such as life insurance, critical illness or an endowment policy, please bring these along with you. This will help us to form a better understanding of the types of financial protection you already have in place.

A typical first meeting discussion

A first meeting is simply a discussion about what you are hoping to do and about whether we can help you. We will look at your current financial situation and your lifestyle, and at what provisions you currently have in place. We will take an overview of your finances to help our Adviser ensure they offer the right financial advice tailored to your situation. The Adviser will answer any of your questions.

You will be asked to fill out a risk questionnaire to make sure the Adviser understands your attitude to investment risk and it will also help us discuss with you ‘risk and reward’.
